The economic reality in recent years has been rapidly changing around us. A characteristic feature of modern economies is that they must operate in unstable and complex conditions generated by a multitude of chaotic and unpredictable situations. This requires, as a consequence of the economic life of all participants, new skills, predictions, flexible operations, rapid change and adaptation to the ever-changing political, economic and social situation, and even more creative vision of the future. There is then a new interpretation of reality around us as well as the principles of operation of business. This article attempts to present the concept of cooperation of the economic and social policies with modern business managed in the conditions of chaosRzeczywistość gospodarcza w ostatnich latach bardzo szybko się wokół nas zmienia. W artykule podjęto próbę przedstawienia koncepcji współdziałania polityki gospodarczej i społecznej z nowocześnie zarządzanym biznesem w warunkach chaos

Summary The purpose of the research: analysis of the course of pregnancy and labor in patients qualified for the prenatal diagnostic tests program in Opole Region. Material and methods: 2513 pregnant women participated in the program. There were 1763 (70.1%) patients above 35 years of age, out of whom 515 women (20.5%) were qualified for amniocentesis and 394 of them (15.6%) decided to undergo the test. Within the group of patients who underwent amniocentesis, 39 karyotypes (9.8%) were found. Analysis of the number of amniocenteses carried out and the number of detected fetal defects showed that initially the number of invasive tests was rising. However, since 2007, i.e. since the introduction of biochemical diagnostic tests based on Kryptor technology, a significant decrease of amniocenteses tests has been observed, while the rate of detected chromosome aberrations in fetuses has not changed. The course of pregnancy and labor in patients above 35 years of age, who gave birth to children in Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital in Opole, has also been analyzed. The investigated group comprised 106 patients who underwent amniocentesis, and 138 patients who did not consent to having the invasive test. Apart from a small difference in average birth weight, the analysis of infant condition and their biophysical parameters after the labor has not shown any significant differences. In both groups gestational diabetes was the most frequent disease, and statistically it was diagnosed more often in patients who had not undergone amniocentesis. No statistically significant differences in the frequency of occurrence of other pregnancy complications have been found. Conclusions: 1. Amniocentesis carried out due to genetic indications between 15th and 20th week of pregnancy may be considered to be a procedure which is safe both for a mother and a fetus. 2. Amniocentesis does not affect the course of pregnancy or the mode of delivery in any significant way. 3. Proper genetics counseling service based on biochemical research enables to decrease the number of amniocenteses tests, while the rate of detected chromosome defects in fetuses remains unchanged

Common variant p.D19H of the hepatobiliary sterol transporter ABCG8 increases the risk of gallstones in children

Introduction Gallstones are increasingly common in children. Genetic analyses of adult cohorts demonstrated that the sterol transporter ABCG8 p.D19H and Gilbert UGT1A1*28 variants enhance the odds of developing gallstones. The genetic background of common lithiasis in children remains unknown. Methods Overall, 214 children with gallstone disease (1 month–17 years, 107 boys) were inclueded. The control cohorts comprised 214 children (age 6–17 years, 115 boys) and 172 adults (age 40–92 years, 70 men) without gallstones. The ABCG8 p.D19H and UGT1A1*28 polymorphisms as well as ABCB4 (c.504C>T rs1202283, c.711A>T rs2109505) and NPC1L1 variants (p.V1296V rs217434, c.−18C>A rs41279633) were genotyped using TaqMan assays. Serum concentrations of plant sterols and cholesterol precursors were measured by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Results The ABCG8 risk allele was associated with an increased risk of stones (OR = 1.82, p = .03). Children carrying the p.19H allele presented with lower serum concentrations of surrogate markers of intestinal cholesterol absorption and decreased ratios of phytosterols to the cholesterol precursor desmosterol. Carriers of the common NPC1L1 rs217434 allele had an increased gallstone risk compared with stone-free adults (OR 1.90, p < .01). This variant also affected the ratio of phytosterols to cholesterol precursors (p = .03). Other tested variants were not associated with gallstone risk. Conclusions The p.D19H ABCG8 and, to a lesser extent, NPC1L1 rs217434 variants increase the risk of early-onset gallstone formation. These results point to the presence of a common lithogenic pathway in children and adults

Cost estimation methods of machine elements at the design stage in unit and small lot production conditions

    No full text
On the stage of product design there is a problem concerning production cost estimation in the moment when elements are not yet definitely designed. Depending on the amount of the available information, more or less precise cost estimation methods are applied, i.e.: variant methods, generation methods, hybrid methods. The proposed method of cost estimation is based on a formalized description of information related to construction, manufacturing and organizational characteristics concerning the designed element, the automation method of technological processes design using methods of group technology and a model of determining production costs of machine elements based on Activity Based Costing

Materials requirement planning with the use of activity based costing

One of the rationalization areas is the material supply process. New tasks of material supply are: integration of supply with the operation of the entire system, especially at the product design stage, effective use of material resources, reduction of the level of supply costs from the point of view of production costs. In the conditions of unit and small batch production the materials requirement needs to be carefully planned and optimized due to the use of many different kinds, types and sizes of materials and dynamic changes of demand over time. In this situation there are needed tools enabling the measurement of production costs for particular tasks on the basis of currently realized processes. One of these tools is activity based costing which is a groundwork for decision making process in the material supply area. Basing on activity based costing, a model of materials requirements planning was developed, which considers minimizing the number of different kinds and sizes of materials by using alternative materials and, consequently, lowering production costs
